The SD40X was an experimental testbed for EMD and the new 645 series prime mover, the 16-645E3, built on a SD35 frame. This model represents Union Pacific Nos. 3043. This SD40 has flared radiators like the SD45. This Model is nicely painted in UP's Armor Yellow and Harbor Mist gray and is finished with glazing in the windows and lenses in the lights. It's an excellent example of a earlier run Ajin build quality! NOTE: This is a tank drive model. A smooth and reasonably quiet runner, this is a harder to find model, with the flared radiators.
