Pre-Order Reservations and New Brass Policy

ReSourced Rails Pre-Order Policy

Pre-ordering is one of the best ways to secure limited-production brass, brass-hybrid, and other specialty models before they arrive. Many of these models are produced in very small quantities, and availability after delivery is often limited or nonexistent.

The following policy explains how reservations, pricing, deposits, payment, shipping, cancellations, and other aspects of the pre-order process are handled by ReSourced Rails.

These policies apply to pre-orders offered through ReSourced Rails from a variety of manufacturers, importers, and suppliers, including, but not limited to, Broadway Limited Imports, The Coach Yard, North Bank Line, Rapido Trains Inc., and Northwest Short Line. Unless otherwise specifically stated on an individual product listing or project announcement, the terms outlined below apply to all pre-orders placed through ReSourced Rails.

Are pre-orders guaranteed up to a certain date?

A pre-order is considered a reservation for a model from an announced production run. Availability is subject to production quantities, manufacturer or importer deadlines, and the quantities allocated to ReSourced Rails.

When a reservation deadline is provided, customers are encouraged to place their order before that date. However, a published deadline does not guarantee that every model or variation will remain available until that date. Certain models may sell out or reach their allocated production quantity earlier.

Likewise, reservations may sometimes remain available after a published deadline when additional production capacity or inventory is available.

Pre-orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers should also make final payments promptly following the issuance of a pickup notice and/or final delivery invoice. Delays in payment may result in cancellation of the reservation and loss of availability for that model.

What is the pre-order cancellation policy?

Pre-orders should be placed with the intention of completing the purchase when the model is delivered. ReSourced Rails uses customer reservations to help determine quantities ordered from manufacturers and importers. As a result, cancellations can leave us responsible for inventory specifically ordered for a customer and, in some cases, can affect the viability of limited-production projects.

Customers may cancel a pre-order at any time prior to the issuance of the final delivery invoice. Once the final delivery invoice has been issued, the pre-order is considered binding and the customer is responsible for completing the purchase.

The initial $1 pre-order deposit is non-refundable.

Some projects may require one or more additional deposits during the production process. If a customer chooses to cancel a pre-order after making these additional deposits, any amount paid beyond the initial $1 deposit will be issued as ReSourced Rails store credit in the form of a gift card rather than refunded to the original form of payment.

Manufacturer, Importer, or Supplier Cancellation

If a manufacturer, importer, or supplier cancels a project, ReSourced Rails will cancel the associated reservation. The initial $1 deposit will be refunded, and any additional deposits or payments collected for the project will be refunded to the customer's original form of payment rather than issued as store credit.

Repeated Cancellations or Non-Payment

We understand that circumstances can change. However, pre-orders are used to determine quantities ordered from manufacturers, importers, and suppliers, and repeated cancellations can leave ReSourced Rails responsible for inventory that was specifically ordered for a customer.

Customers who cancel more than two pre-orders may have their ability to place future pre-orders limited or restricted.

The same policy may apply to customers who repeatedly fail to make required production deposits or fail to pay the final balance when a pre-order reaches delivery.

Failure to make final payment within 10 days of the issuance of a pickup notice and/or final delivery invoice may result in cancellation of the pre-order, loss of the reserved model, and forfeiture of deposits paid toward that reservation.

What happens when a pre-ordered model arrives?

When a pre-ordered model is approaching delivery or has arrived, ReSourced Rails will contact the customer by email with a pickup notice and/or invoice for the remaining balance due.

Payment is expected promptly upon receipt and must be completed within 10 days of the issuance of the pickup notice and/or final delivery invoice unless other arrangements have been made with ReSourced Rails.

If payment has not been received, a reminder pickup notice and/or invoice will be sent on the 10th day.

If payment remains outstanding and the customer has not made other arrangements with ReSourced Rails, the reservation may be cancelled and the model made available to another customer. Deposits previously paid toward the reservation may also be forfeited.

Repeated failure to complete pre-orders may affect a customer's ability to place future reservations.

Are installment or financing options available for pre-orders?

Eligible customers may have the option to use Shop Pay Installments or an installment/financing option offered through PayPal when completing payment for a pre-ordered model. Available options, if any, will be displayed during checkout.

These services are offered and administered by independent third-party payment providers and are not financing or layaway programs offered directly by ReSourced Rails. Availability is subject to customer eligibility, transaction amount, location, and the terms and requirements established by the applicable payment provider. Not all customers or transactions will qualify.

Any application, approval process, credit decision, or personal and financial information submitted in connection with these services is handled by the applicable third-party provider and is subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices. ReSourced Rails does not determine or control a customer's eligibility or approval.

Available payment terms, installment amounts, payment schedules, interest rates, fees, credit limits, and other financing conditions are determined entirely by the applicable payment provider and the customer's eligibility. ReSourced Rails does not establish, modify, or guarantee these terms.

Customers choosing a third-party installment option remain subject to the ReSourced Rails Pre-Order Policy, including applicable reservation and final payment deadlines. The availability of a particular installment or financing option cannot be guaranteed and may change at any time based on the policies of the applicable payment provider.

How is pre-order pricing determined?

Whenever possible, ReSourced Rails will provide an estimated or confirmed retail price when a project is announced.

Because many models are announced months or even years before delivery, final pricing can be affected by manufacturing costs, currency exchange rates, tariffs, duties, transportation expenses, and other factors outside of our control.

For this reason, some projects may initially be listed with an estimated price or with pricing identified as To Be Determined (TBD).

Unless a price is specifically identified as guaranteed or fixed, estimated pricing should not be considered a guarantee of the final selling price.

Customers are responsible for the final price of the model, applicable sales tax, and any other charges described in the individual pre-order listing.

As an added benefit, customers who pre-order a model in advance of its arrival will receive a 10% discount from the published MSRP of that model.

Are there shipping charges on pre-ordered models?

Most domestic orders of $199 or more qualify for complimentary shipping, including most pre-ordered brass and specialty models. Certain exceptions may apply based on the size, weight, value, destination, or other shipping requirements of an order.

Individual product listings may also identify project-specific shipping terms or exceptions.

International customers are responsible for applicable shipping charges, customs fees, duties, taxes, and other import-related expenses unless otherwise stated.

What shipping service is used?

ReSourced Rails selects an appropriate carrier and service based on the size, value, destination, and shipping requirements of the order. Most orders are shipped using UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail.

Shipping insurance is automatically included on items valued at $999 or more. A signature upon delivery is also required for all new brass models.

Customers requiring a specific carrier, service level, insurance arrangement, or other special shipping accommodation should contact ReSourced Rails before completing final payment. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these requests; however, additional shipping charges may apply.

Is sales tax charged on pre-orders?

ReSourced Rails collects applicable sales tax as required by law. Depending upon the customer's shipping destination, this may include orders shipped to states outside of Illinois.

Applicable sales tax is generally determined by the shipping destination and the tax requirements in effect at the time the final transaction is completed.

Tax-exempt customers should provide valid exemption documentation to ReSourced Rails before the final invoice is paid.

Production and Delivery Dates

Production and delivery dates provided for pre-order projects are estimates unless specifically stated otherwise.

Limited-production models frequently have long production cycles, and production or delivery schedules may change due to manufacturing delays, transportation, customs, importer schedules, or other circumstances outside the control of ReSourced Rails.

A change in the anticipated production or delivery date does not automatically cancel a reservation.

If a manufacturer, importer, or supplier cancels a project entirely, ReSourced Rails will cancel the associated reservations and refund applicable deposits or payments in accordance with the terms outlined above.

Special Circumstances

We recognize that no policy can anticipate every situation. Special or unusual circumstances will be reviewed individually by ReSourced Rails. Exceptions or alternative arrangements may be made at our discretion when appropriate.

Customers who anticipate difficulty meeting a deposit or final payment deadline are strongly encouraged to contact us before the applicable deadline so that we can determine whether alternative arrangements can be made.

A Note About Limited-Production Models

Pre-orders allow ReSourced Rails to work with manufacturers, importers, and suppliers to bring highly specialized models to market. In many cases, production quantities are based directly on customer reservations.

We ask customers to place reservations thoughtfully and only for models they reasonably intend to purchase. In return, ReSourced Rails will make every effort to communicate pricing, production updates, delivery schedules, and other important information as it becomes available.

Questions about a particular project or reservation are always welcome. Please contact ReSourced Rails before placing a reservation if you need clarification about the terms of a specific pre-order.
