No. 3985 is a famous 4-6-6-4 "Challenger" built in July 1943 by the American Locomotive Company for fast freight service. It pulled is last revenue freight in 1957, but wasn't officially retired until 1962. Stored in Cheyenne, Wyoming, until 1981, when it underwent restoration for excursion service. Taken out of excursion service in 2010, it was officially retired from the excursion fleet in 2020.
This model is an excellent example of late-run Samhongsa production, among some of the last models Samhongsa produced. A smooth running and quiet runner, it's truly a superb model.
