Trains Inc. imported model built by KMT in Japan. Box shows minimum wear. No spare parts included. Original Trains Inc. paperwork is included. Three of the U-50-B's were delivered to the Union Pacific in October, 1963 for testing. The UP was sufficiently satisfied with these locomotives that they ordered 20 more with 12 delivered between July and September, 1964. The rest were delivered between May and August, 1965. The first twenty were traded in to GE for U30C's between 1973 and 1974. The others survived until being struck from the U.P.'s roster in 1977. nicked named "Whirlybirds", because of the distinct sound they made. Good custom paintwork, numbered 33. Model is noisy but a smooth running model that shows evidence of minimal use.
